Phone footage shows arrest of man who later died in Bedford

Mobile phone footage has emerged showing the arrest of a man who later died.

The footage shows plain-clothed police officers urging the man, named locally as Carl Brunner, to spit out something which was in his mouth.

The death is being investigated by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC).

The IPCC said the man was arrested on Midland Road, Bedford, at about 12:35 BST on Wednesday.

He was taken to Bedford Hospital and pronounced dead at 13:17.

Bedfordshire Police said the man "became unwell" and that officers gave him first aid.
