Woodside Link: First drive on route to new M1 junction

This is the new road set to link two towns in Bedfordshire to an M1 junction when it opens in June.

The Woodside Link road will connect Houghton Regis and industrial estates in Dunstable to a new M1 junction.

Work began on the 2.9km (1.8 miles) long link road in 2015.

It is part of Central Bedfordshire Council's Dunstable Town Centre Masterplan to regenerate the area.

The road will mainly be a 40mph single carriageway with footpaths and cycle paths.

There will be a section of 70mph dual carriageway to connect with junction 11a fo the M1, and a short section of dual carriageway to connect with Sundon Road.

The BBC drove along the route ahead of its opening.
