Saxophonist Alex Woods to study in New York
A jazz saxophonist who has been playing in pubs and clubs since the age of 12 has been offered the chance to study in New York.
Alex Woods, who started playing the saxophone aged just nine, won a scholarship to study at the Birmingham Conservatoire and said he is on target to achieve first class honours.
Now he has been offered the chance to complete a post graduate course at the prestigious Manhattan School of Music.
Birmingham tutor Jeremy Price said: "He's highly creative and he's got all the skills you require of the profession."
