Birmingham community project wins sports award

A community worker from Birmingham has been honoured at a sports awards ceremony.

Mohammed Zafran's All 4 Youth & Community was named Project of the Year at the West Midlands Community Sports Awards, held at Villa Park on Wednesday night.

More than 6,000 people, mainly teenagers, have been involved in schemes run by Mr Zafran.

He started his work in the Bordesley Green area after his brother-in-law was fatally stabbed in Sparkbrook three years ago.

Local security guard Rahib Azam said the work had transformed the local community.
