Lorry driver hits RAC worker on M6 near Birmingham

A "dangerous" lorry driver who swerved across a motorway and hit an RAC man has been jailed for eight months.

Video released by West Midlands Police shows Terence Poolman, 69, of Beech Drive, Shifnal, in Shropshire, hitting the roadside mechanic and breaking his back in two places, before driving off.

PC David Gaunt said: "The recovery driver is extremely lucky to be alive and the consequences of Poolman's complete lack of attention that day could have been a lot worse.

"The victim remains in a lot of pain and has been unable to work since the crash."
