Fire rips through Black Country restaurant Hickory's

A severe fire has ripped through the thatched roof at a Grade II listed building that was home to a restaurant.

At its height, 100 firefighters tackled the blaze at Hickory's Smokehouse in Wall Heath, near Dudley.

The 1930s Grade II listed building was once a nightclub where The Beatles and Gerry and the Pacemakers played.

Structural engineers have been out to assess the damage and a West Midlands Fire Service spokesman says there are "positive" early signs that the building can be saved.
