Why schools close for a snow day: A head teacher explains

Thousands of schools closed on Monday - but how tough a decision was it after heavy snowfalls?

BBC News visited what was thought to be the only school open in Birmingham to meet its head teacher.

About 70 pupils attended lessons at West House Independent Preparatory School for Boys, in Edgbaston.

The school has never closed because of the weather in its 122 years.
