Bell-ringer rescued from Bathampton belfry

A bell-ringer who became entangled in ropes and was knocked unconscious at a belfry near Bath has been rescued by firefighters.

Helen Springthorpe, 58, was placed on a stretcher and lowered 20ft (6m) from the bell-ringing gallery floor at St Nicholas Church, Bathampton.

She said she had only been bell-ringing for three months and that she had been "just a bit unlucky".
