Russ Conway: Unpublished autobiography offers insight into early years
A rare insight into the early years of Bristol composer and pianist Russ Conway has been unveiled.
Born in Bristol as Trevor Stanford, in his heyday he was Britain's most successful and wealthiest pianist, selling more than 20 million records.
He was half way through his autobiography when he died of cancer in 2000. The manuscript was given to his friend and producer, Richard Hope-Hawkins.
"Bristol obviously shaped him - he loved Bristol and at the end of his life he wanted to come back and live in Bristol," said Mr Hope-Hawkins.
