'Fake Frenchman' bomb hoax call released by police

A man has been jailed for 20 months for staging a bomb hoax in Bristol as part of an ongoing dispute with a rival.

Stewart Jackson, 42, from Emersons Green, was caught on CCTV buying petrol before dousing a car with it and calling the police

More than 450 homes in the Cassell Road area of Fishponds were evacuated in May when the area around the BMW was sealed off.

Bristol Crown Court heard a recording of Jackson as he feigned a French accent to make a 999 call.

Police said his DNA was found on the petrol can hose which had been abandoned in a nearby hedge.
