Ex-politician David Spry recalls gender reassignment journey
In 1997, David Spry became the first politician in the country to announce his plans to become a woman.
He was elected to Labour-controlled Bristol City Council in May. Six months later he announced he was undergoing gender reassignment surgery and wished to be known as Rosalind Mitchell.
Now living in Scotland, Rosalind has been comparing how things have changed and how difficult it was 20 years ago.
