Cornish pasty success at French food festival

While French cooking may be held up as the pinnacle of gastronomy, the humble Cornish pasty has proved a big success with locals at a Brittany food festival.

An estimated 600,000 people visited the Festival Interceltique in Lorient and according to the local French newspaper Le Telegramme, the hand-crimped pasties, made by Trevethick Bakery were "the revelation of the festival".

As Eleanor Parkinson reports, Frenchman Stephane Sauthier, head chef of a Cornish restaurant, said his fellow countrymen would have been won over by the the freshness of the ingredients and the taste.
