Lake spectacle marks end of Games
A stunning display, featuring cars driving on the surface of a Cumbrian lake, helped to mark the end of the UK's Cultural Olympiad.
Derwentwater in the Lake District was the venue for the performance and light show by French-based Group Ilotopie.
Over two-nights, starting on Friday, the free show included fireworks and special effects giving the illusion of vehicles being driven on the water.
Using lights, music and pyrotechnics, the group set out to show how environmental disasters have impacted on Utopias throughout time.
The 60-minute spectacle saw cars drive on water, heads burst into flames and a 12-foot woman riding a penny farthing on the lake.
