Play park swings and slides removed from Carlisle parks in cuts
Slides, swings and roundabouts are to be removed from 21 parks in Carlisle in a bid to save £25,000 a year.
Carlisle City Council said it would strip equipment from almost a third of its parks because it cannot afford to maintain them.
But parents said the amount the council planned to save was not worth the sacrifice.
Castle Labour ward councillor Elsie Martlew said the move was not ideal but blamed the government for cuts.
The council must trim almost £4m from its £13m annual budget over the next five years.
Alison Freeman reports.
