Guards 'bar' entry to 84th birthday
Security guards were drafted in to restrict numbers of guests at the 84th birthday party of a care home resident who had staged a protest over its closure.
Durham County Council said it had safety fears after retired head teacher Don Robson's celebration was advertised on social media.
But on the last day of his protest - and his birthday - friends and family had to stay in the car park at Newtown House in Stanhope after being refused entry.
The move provoked anger, as Look North's Stuart Whincup found out.
