Helvellyn mountain weather assessor appointed

A hill-walker and outdoor instructor has been chosen to be a Lake District fell-top assessor.

Graham Uney, a mountain instructor living in Wales, will have to climb climb to Helvellyn's 950m (3,114ft) summit every day from December to Easter to report on conditions for the Lake District National Park Authority's Weatherline service.

The authority said the service was "almost beyond value".
