Transport secretary 'will listen to East Midlands residents on HS2'
Transport secretary and Derbyshire Dales MP Patrick McLoughlin has assured residents will be listened to during the public consultation on the HS2 route.
Following the announcement of Phase 2 of the route this week, he said he recognised the plans would be unpopular and bring blight for some residents, but he promised to try and overcome those problems.
"Whatever route I would have chosen or confirmed would have upset people," he said.
"There is no way you can build a major railway with the nature of HS2 and not upset some people."
He talks to East Midlands Today political editor John Hess.
