The Izaak Walton Hotel has debts of over £1.5m

A Derbyshire hotelier refused to answer questions after it was revealed he owed creditors more than £1.5m.

The Izaak Walton Hotel in Dovedale has been liquidated by insolvency firm Begbie Traynor, leaving several couples due to be married there without a venue.

On Friday, owner Thomas Day came face-to-face with some of those he owes money to, many of whom found they are unlikely to get much of it back.

BBC East Midlands Today's Simon Hare reports.
