Derbyshire Fire Brigades' Union calls for service change plans to be scrapped

Derbyshire firefighters say response times will be affected if planned cuts by the fire authority go ahead.

There are still four weeks left for members of the public to give their views on proposals by Derbyshire Fire and Rescue to close fire stations and reduce the number of full-time firefighters.

Marc Redford from the Fire Brigades' Union says the proposed changes "are not safe".

The matter was also discussed in parliament this week by Labour MPs Toby Perkins and Chris Williamson.
