1966 Cine film shows West Germans training in Ashbourne

Newly released Cine film footage shows the West German football team training in Derbyshire ahead of the 1966 World Cup.

The squad arrived in Ashbourne 50 years ago this summer to prepare for the competition.

They were welcomed by those living in the market town, despite their rivalry with England - who went on to beat them in the final.

The footage was recorded by Ashbourne resident Stuart Avery.
