Mike Newman 'sets blind water speed record'

A former bank manager claims to have set a blind water speed world record by travelling at more than 93mph.

Mike Newman, 52, from Manchester, steered the £300,000 Forumla 1 powerboat while powerboat racer Drew Langdon manned the throttle and directed him through Torquay harbour, in Devon.

Data on the record will be sent to the Guinness Book of Records to authenticate.
