Blacksmiths attend international festival in Devon

The International Blacksmiths Festival is being held at Westpoint Exeter, attracting experts from as far afield as the USA.

Organisers said the festival was "a celebration of the ancient tradition's historic roots and its importance in today's society".

Merv Allen, a blacksmith and an organiser of the festival, said the event was about "showing people that blacksmithing isn't something of the past, it is an art form that has a huge part to play in today's society".

The festival runs until Saturday.
