Police car explodes on dual carriageway in Devon

A police officer has avoided injury after his patrol car exploded in Devon.

The car, which was destroyed in the blaze, caught fire just before 10:20 BST on the A38 northbound, near Splatford Split, Exeter.

Two fire engines attended the scene and two northbound lanes of the major road were closed.

It's not known what caused the fire.
