Royal Marines kayak across English Channel

Members of the Royal Marines have led a team of 30 kayakers across the English Channel to commemorate 350 years of the infantry.

The 30-hour challenge and 86 nautical mile journey took place in choppy conditions from Port en Bessin in Normandy to Eastney beach in Southsea, Hampshire.

Colour Sgt Richie Hayden called it a "long old slog and a hard effort by all".
