Barnt Green Horse Rescue owner's fears for eviction

The owner of a Worcestershire horse sanctuary has warned she may have to have some of the animals put down after she was handed an eviction notice for the site.

Landowners JJ Gallagher has now given the Barnt Green Horse and Animal Rescue until 1 June to move, ahead of plans to build 170 homes on the site.

Sanctuary owner Raynor Walker, who said she had saved about 1,000 horses in the past 25 years, said she felt "physically sick" when she got the eviction notice.

In a statement, the landowner said it was "fully assisting in finding or providing alternative premises" for the rescue centre.
