Increase in dog attacks, West Midlands police forces say

Police forces across the region are reporting a rise in the number of dog attacks.

A woman is still in hospital with serious injuries after an attack by two animals on Sunday.

Staffordshire Police say they have have dealt with nearly 200 incidents in the last year. Police across West Mercia and Warwickshire took 71 dangerous dogs off the streets in 2013 and have picked up 50 animals in 2014.

BBC Midlands Today's Ben Sidwell spoke to Pip Singleton, a dog warden with Worcestershire Regulatory Services, Areika Bickerton, the manager of Birmingham Dogs Home and Jim Beaufoy, the secretary of the Staffordshire Bull Terriers Club.
