'Surrogate granddaughter' defrauded Kent widow out of £10K

A widow from Kent has spoken of her anger after a woman she thought of as her "surrogate granddaughter" defrauded her out of £10,000.

Sally Lyndsell, 38, of Chartham, had helped Christine Stewart, who lives near Canterbury, to do her shopping but used her bank card to repeatedly withdraw money for herself.

Lyndsell was given an eight month sentence, suspended for two years, at Canterbury Crown Court and ordered to do 240 hours of unpaid work.
