Funds needed for Scotney Castle renovation

Damaged and faded gold damask wallpaper around the grand staircase at Scotney Castle is being replaced in a major renovation project expected to cost about £13,000.

The National Trust property in Kent, which is set in almost 800 acres of parkland in Lamberhurst, used to belong to the Hussey family, who last decorated during the 1950s.

The castle is relying on donations to raise the money needed to renovate the stairway.

BBC South East Today's Claudia Sermbezsis spoke to Claire Reed, curator for the National Trust, and Laura Edwards, visitor experience manager.
