MP offers 'moral support' to Manston Airport campaigners

Campaigners who want to see Manston Airport reopened have been told by a government minister: "We're on your side."

Grant Shapps, minister without portfolio, visited the Kent airport to meet supporters and the leader of Thanet District Council.

Manston was closed by owner Ann Gloag in May after offers to buy it were rejected.

BBC South East Today's Sara Smith spoke to Dan Light, of Save Manston Airport, Grant Shapps MP and Andy Wilby, a former Manston air traffic controller.

Ex-employee Nick Emmerson and councillor Iris Johnston, leader of Thanet District Council, also talked to BBC South East.
