Hull suffered badly in the bombing raids of World War II.

More than 1,200 people were killed and more than 3,000 seriously injured during 1939-45. Hardly a house in the city was untouched.

Thomas Houlton, who was a 10-year-old schoolboy in March 1941, remembers a shocking incident.
