Winter fuel cash raises thousands in Leicester

A fund which donates winter fuel payments to charity has raised more than £15,000 since it was set up last year.

Paul and Sue Newman, from Glenfield, founded the 125 fund to encourage other over-60s, who do not need the payments, to redirect money to charitable causes.

This winter's money will go to Age UK and the Leicester Royal Infirmary - where it will help to build a new children's cancer unit.
