Weed project to improve water quality in Grantham Canal

Conservationists restoring part of the Grantham Canal in Lincolnshire are planting a "rare pondweed" in a bid to improve water quality.

Grass wrack pondweed was once prevalent in the waterway but has been in decline over recent years.

It is hoped fresh planting along a stretch of the canal will boost insect numbers.
