Met targeting uninsured drivers

The Metropolitan Police has deployed 1,000 officers around London to seize as many vehicles as possible, as it targets uninsured drivers.

The campaign was launched by Scotland Yard's commissioner, Bernard Hogan-Howe, and is designed to disrupt other criminal activity.

Between 70% and 80% of uninsured drivers were involved in other types of offences, he added.

He has been explaining why he decided to focus on this particular issue.
