Boris Johnson pledges to help 'squeezed middle' buy a home

Ahead of his speech at the Conservative Party conference on Tuesday, London Mayor Boris Johnson has pledged £100m to get people on to the property ladder after claiming the middle classes were being squeezed out of buying their own homes.

A leading housing charity says the funding will only scratch the surface and predicts an exodus of key London workers.

BBC London political correspondent Karl Mercer talks to Darragh Collins and Richard Farrelly of Ben Adams Architects, deputy mayor for housing Richard Blakeway and Kay Boycott of housing charity Shelter.
