Man fights 1950s gay criminal record

A 73-year-old man who discovered he had a criminal record for being in a gay relationship in the 1950s is applying to have his conviction removed from official records.

John Crawford, from Marylebone in central London, still has to declare the old offence whenever applying for voluntary work.

Now, following a change in the law, he can apply to the Home Office to have his conviction erased for good.
