Soho's On the Beat Records to be auctioned on eBay

One of central London's oldest record shops has been listed for sale on internet auction site eBay.

Tim Derbyshire, who opened On the Beat Records in Soho in 1979, wants to sell it to "someone with passion".

For £300,000, the new owner will get a 10-year lease and 50,000 records.

Mr Derbyshire said the likes of David Bowie, Sir Paul McCartney and Paul Weller have come into the store.

Warren Nettleford reports.
