Thames Barrier breaks closure record
The Thames Barrier has closed a record 50 times this winter, which was the wettest since records began.
It has been the busiest time in the flood defence's 32-year history.
Steve East, engineering manager for the Thames Barrier, says recent closures have put stress on the equipment however it has proven to be reliable while Baroness Jones, Green Party member on London Assembly, calls for another barrier to be built.
