London skyscraper the Shard evacuated after smoke alert

Hundreds of people have been evacuated from London skyscraper the Shard as firefighters investigate reports of smoke in the basement.

Seven fire engines and 50 firefighters were sent to the skyscraper, western Europe's tallest building, at 10:30 BST.

London Fire Brigade (LFB) confirmed it was investigating reports of smoke in the basement of the building, but said there was no suggestion of a fire.
