Hitman jailed for killing leader of Tottenham Turks gang

A hitman has been jailed for at least 38 years after murdering a gang leader and then shooting his own getaway driver.

Jamie Marsh-Smith was hired to kill Zafer Eren - the leader of the Tottenham Turks - by a rival gang, the court heard during the trial.

Days after the murder, his accomplice and co-defendant in the case, Samuel Zerei, was also shot by him. Zerei was jailed for a minimum of 28 years for Mr Eren's murder.

BBC London reporter Emilia Papadopoulos spoke to Det Ch Insp Noel McHugh, the senior investigating officer in the case.
