Fan 'could have killed' Crystal Palace bald eagle, says handler.

A football fan has been found guilty of trying to punch Crystal Palace's bald eagle mascot during a cup game.

Kayla the bald eagle has been the club's mascot since 2010.

Her handler Chris Belsey told BBC London there was "a very good chance" she could have been killed if the fan had actually succeeded in punching her.

Charlton Athletic supporter Daniel Boylett, 36, of Eltham, was found guilty at Croydon Crown Court of attempted criminal damage for the attack.

He will be sentenced on 28 April.
