Elbow's Guy Garvey 'proud' to play Manchester Cathedral
Manchester band Elbow have said they are "really, really proud" to be playing a show in the city's cathedral.
Speaking to BBC 5 live's Richard Bacon ahead of the gig, singer Guy Garvey said they were "dead pleased" to be doing the performance, which will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 2.
He and Elbow bass player Pete Turner also discussed the reformed Stone Roses shows, to be held in Manchester's Heaton Park in June 2012, which the bassist called "a whopper".
Mr Garvey said that despite Britain being "a country of naysayers... anybody who thinks that gig is going to be anything less than absolutely spectacular is totally tripping".
Elbow at Manchester Cathedral will be on BBC Radio 2 from 20:00 BST on Thursday. The band's encore will be live on BBC 6 Music from 22:00 BST.
The concert will also be broadcast live into Manchester's Exchange Square and be available to watch on the BBC Radio 2 website and on TV via the Red Button from 21:00 BST.
