Alan Henning: Balloon release and football game in Eccles

More than 100 yellow balloons have been released and a fundraising football match held in memory of murdered British hostage Alan Henning.

The 47-year-old taxi driver, from Salford, was beheaded by Islamic State (IS) militants after he was captured in December while delivering aid in Syria.

Mr Henning's nephew Stuart and his taxi driver friends drove in convoy in Eccles before releasing the balloons.

Coronation Street actors Alan Halsall who plays Tyrone Dobbs and Andy Whyment, who plays Kirk Sutherland as well as The Royle Family star Ralf Little took part in the match at AFC Monton in Eccles to raise funds for his family.
