Toddler Joshua Jones's death 'was avoidable'
The death of a two-year-old boy from Cheshire could have been avoided if police and social services had acted differently, a coroner has ruled.
Joshua Jones was killed by his mother's partner in November 2007, days after he had been released from hospital.
Wayne Davenport, of Runcorn, was jailed for six years for manslaughter in 2009.
Joshua's mother, Nicola Bowman, was convicted of causing or allowing her son's death and was given a suspended sentence.
Audrey Williamson, of Halton's Safeguarding Children Board, responded to the coroner's criticisms.
