Carla Lane's son plays tribute to 'fun-loving' mother

The son of television writer Carla Lane has paid tribute to his "fun-loving" mother, who died on Tuesday aged 87.

Ms Lane, who was born in Liverpool and later became known for her animal rights activism, wrote 1980's sitcoms Bread and Butterflies and co-penned The Liver Birds.

Carl Hollins said his mother's home city and its people were a huge influence on her writing and humour.
