Norwich starlings 'ballet' thrills city shoppers

A "mesmerising murmuration" of starlings has become a "must see" event in a city, bird experts have said.

Up to 2,000 birds are flying into the city at dusk to stay in the rooftop of an office building that is providing an "urban heat bubble", said the Norfolk Wildlife Trust.

Huddling in the roost helps them conserve energy.

The aerial ballet is "one of the best wildlife sights in the world", said Norfolk farmer and naturalist Chris Skinner.
