HS2 Toton station could see the relocation of up to 600 jobs

Up to 600 jobs in a 2km radius of a proposed HS2 railway station in Nottinghamshire could be relocated.

Maintenance depot DB Schenker, yards away from the proposed station, is fighting demolition plans.

And Leicestershire factory Plastic Omnium has formally objected to the plans, saying relocation of its staff to make way for the line to a station at Toton could cost it millions of pounds.

But HS2 Limited said the station would eventually create 1,500 jobs and regenerate a "pretty unsightly part of the East Midlands".

A special report "HS2 and You" is on tonight's Inside Out East Midlands on BBC One at 7.30pm.
