Derby marks 40 years since being granted city status

Derby is celebrating 40 years to the day since the Queen handed over the official paperwork and the town became a city at last.

It followed a long campaign by local people and formed part of the Queen's Silver Jubilee celebrations.

Derby City Council is hosting a civic reception later for staff who have been with the authority for more than 40 years.
