Police sorry over delay in bringing killer to justice
Police have apologised for an error that delayed the questioning of Fiaz Munshi, who was earlier convicted of killing two children in a house fire 17 years ago.
Munshi, 38, of Oldham, has been found guilty of the manslaughter of two children in an arson attack in Oxford in 1997.
Det Insp Craig Kirby called it a "genuine" but "serious" mistake and said: "I have apologised personally to the family that a mistake made in 2005 meant that we couldn't bring this to justice that bit earlier."
