Dive team boss attacks police search for missing Ellis Downes

The chief executive of a private dive company that found a body believed to be missing swimmer Ellis Downes has sharply criticised the police operation.

Peter Faulding, from Specialist Group International, answered an appeal by Ellis's family on Facebook asking for help.

He said his team arrived at about 16:00 BST, but were stopped from looking for the body where it went missing in Culham by Thames Valley Police until 23:00 BST.

Thames Valley Police has not directly responded to the criticisms, but previously blamed "poor visibility" in the river for having "hampered" underwater searches.
