Emotions run high at Horton hospital meeting

Emotions ran high when campaigners came face to face with NHS trust bosses who may downgrade Horton hospital's maternity services.

Oxford University Hospitals NHS trust says a lack of qualified doctors means it could be forced to make the service midwife-led, with emergency patients sent to Oxford.

One pregnant GP at the meeting said she was "terrified" at the prospect of the maternity unit being downgraded.

Banbury MP Victoria Prentis meanwhile said she did not believe the plan was safe for patients.
